Reynolds and Booth are the perfect pair

The over 65’s Men’s Pairs saw Peter Reynolds and David Booth get off to a flying start to lead 14-3 after ten ends before John Pannett and Brian Henty started a fight back. Needing four shots on the last end for a draw they only mustered three to lose 22-21.

In the Men’s Fours Final Roger Cable, Dave Bain, Bill Fuller and Stephen Bain took an early lead after ten ends 16-3 when they played Roger Taylor, Dave Webber, Colin Taylor and Mike Taylor. Mike’s four played well to close the gap but were just beaten 21-17.

The Ladies Drawn Fours Final was between Carol Fuller, Paddy Kervin, Pat Nicholls and Jean Finch who completed a fine win over Pauline Nash, Kay Shaw Margery Campbell and Phyllis Stevens when they scored 1,2,2,2 on the last four ends to win 22-12.

Anne Colbran and Rosemary Burgin took the Ralph Endeavour Ladies Pairs Final when they defeated Mandy Dow and Ann Holland 22-17.

The Ladies Triples was won in style by Sheila Morris, Pat White and Anne Summers when they beat Gill Hill, Rene Baker and Sheila Simmons. Ahead 9-6 after 10 ends they finished the strongest going on to win 19-7.

The last match on the green was the Mixed Pairs Final when Pauline Nash and Francois Celeda sneaked a win on the extra end to beat Ursula Fenner and Bill Fuller.

Ursula and Bill scored two shots on the last end to force a tie. With just the last bowl to play Francois was two down, opting to play a firm bowl he was wide of the target but just clipped his partners bowl sending it sideways to take the shot and win a thrilling game 23-22.
