Two goals from Sam Headey and an opportunistic reverse stick lob from Tristan Pengilley gave Hailsham a 3-0 lead by half-time in their must-win match against Worthing Mens II.

Worthing attempted a comeback and scored early on in the second half.

However, Alex Smith, Dan Channing and captain Dan Ivemy provided some excellent support.

Further goals were claimed by Hailsham’s George Cyster(2), Lee Humber and Smith.

Together with a 10-0 defeat for fellow bottom of table team Middleton and Bognor at the hands of South Saxons, the 7-1 victory guarantees that Hailsham will certainly stay in Sussex Open division one next season.

A hard fought 2-1 defeat to Southdowns Ladies was not the end of the season game Hailsham Ladies II were hoping for.

Nonetheless, the clash was a decent game with many missed chances for Hailsham.

Their only goal was scored by Kathy Moore off the end of a excellent cross rocketed in from the right by Captain Louise Forwood. Hailsham remain in second place in Sussex Ladies division three.

In the Sussex Development league, the Hailsham Millers entertained Brighton & Hove Flippers.

It was a closely fought contest which remained goalless for the first 20 minutes before Hailsham took the lead.

Max Wooten fired the Flippers’ back board from a well-worked penalty corner routine fine tuned in training.

Unfortunately a couple of lapses in concentration at the back saw Brighton take the lead just before the half time whistle. The second half saw both teams go close but with no further goals the score remained 1-2.
