No less than 11 new club records were set and a total of 42 personal bests achieved by Eastbouurne Swimming Club swimmers at the fifth and final club championships of the year.
The competition began with the gruelling ladies 400m open freestyle event and while this wasn’t a closely contested race it provided a great opportunity for the Eastbourne girls to get some terrific personal bests.
13 year old Hannah Lindsay wiped 42 seconds from her PB, Harriet Farrington followed with a 30 second PB and second place Lauren Manson took 10 seconds from her best. The winner’s trophy went to 17-year-old Lizzie Wright who touched in first with a lead of 20 seconds.
The men’s 400m trophy went to Adrian Wright who finished 24 seconds ahead of his nearest rival but, the race for 2nd place kept spectators on the edge of their seats, with Jack Lindsay finally touching home second, just one second ahead of Sean Wright to take silver with a 15 second Personal Best.
In the 200 Individual Medley events there were nine new records set courtesy of Lauren Goldsmith, Harriet Farrington, Lauren Manson, Lizzie Wright, Matthew Wilson, James Grimmond, Matt Tyler, Sean Wright and Adrian Wright whilst youngsters Louis Wood, Nour Karkach and Chloe Hughes achieved great PBs.
