Railway fight off rivals to stay on top

Railway Club A maintained their top spot in Division Two of the Eastbourne Snooker League following a 3-2 away victory against Eastbourne Workingmens Club B - Mark Humphries, Paul Goacher and Gary Moseley recording the Railway wins.

Hailsham Memorial Institute B, lying in equal first place, entertained Transport the HMI B and took another step towards automatic promotion with a 4-1 victory.

Dean Goodall, Clive Kidman, Barry Kent and Hugh Galt recorded the winning frames with Paul Betts notching the solitary busboys win on the black against Darren Jeffrey in the opening frame.

Bollards, in fourth place, lost 3-2 at home to third placed Hellingly, who came back from two frames down to win via the cues of Steve Medhurst, Andrew Lawrence and Nigel Greenham.

Polegate Legion kept in touch with the leaders with a 3-2 home victory over Meads B with the match-winning frame coming from Stuart Welling, who also recorded the top Division Two break this week a 53 clearance in his 83-20 win over Jasson Hassan.

Ministries took on the bottom club Fishermens B and recorded a 3-2 home win while mid-table Hailsham Club A fell to a 3-2 home loss against lowly Devonshire Club A.

Topaz in fourth place fell to a 3-2 home loss by HMI E with wins from Peter Crouch, Alan Hooker and John Lamb.
