Phyllis in the final eight after late win

Phyllis Stevens scored two singles to seal a dramatic late win and book her place in the Ladies County Unbadged Singles Quarter finals.

Travelling to Egerton Park, Phyllis came up against Val Butler to battle it out for a spot in the final eight.

After ten nail-biting ends, the scores were level at nine a piece.

After a further ten ends, Phyllis was down 20 -19 but then scored two singles to win a fine game by a close 21-20 scoreline.

In the club competition, The Ralph Endeavour Pairs of Jenny Heward and Linda Garrett beat Jo Hurst and Pat Ring by 16-5.

Elsewhere, Kathy Ellam and Annie Jackson beat HelenCharman and Sandra Dossett 17-13.

In the Men’s Club Singles, former champion Peter Reynolds staged a fine finish tobeat Roger Cable.

Peter trailed 17-19 after 22 hard-fought ends but he then went on to score 1,3 to snatch a very good win.

In another great game, Derek wells staged an exciting late comeback to beat Ian Coombes.

Derek trailed 12-18 after 15 ends but produced a very strong finish to take the game 21-19.
