British number-two Elena Baltacha has withdrawn from the AEGON International with a neck injury.
Baltacha, who enjoyed a straight sets victory in the first round of qualifying on Saturday was due to play British number-four Laura Robson.
However, Baltacha was forced to pull-out of the match and the tournament after her neck didn’t respond as well as she’d hoped to treatment.
She said, “I’m very disappointed because I was really looking forward to playing Laura.
My neck was very sore during practice earlier today and the even though the WTA physio worked hard to try to get me ready to play, in the end I had no choice but to pull out.
“It’s a tough one to take because I’ve had some bad luck with injuries over the last few weeks but the good news is that it’s not too serious and I’m hoping to be fit to play doubles with Anne later in the week.”
