Eastbourne Edge’s Nina Brown joined the GB Junior Women’s In Line Skate Hockey team at the World Championships in Toulouse, France.

The team started strongly with a 2-0 win over one of pre-tournament favourites Skate Hockey, Canada. They then went on to top their group with victories over Australia 5-1 and Namibia 7-1.

In the quarter final they beat Columbia 6-2 to book a place in the semi final against the reigning champions USA.

A tight first half ended 2-2 but the USA got a goal 14 seconds into the second half while GB had a player in the sin bin.

Unfortunately, despite dominating the play, the GB Junior women were unable to get a goal back and lost the semi final 3-2.

In the 3rd/4th place play off they faced Canada again and secured a bronze medal with a 5-2 win.

Nina, now 18, has played at every age level with Eastbourne Edge Skate Hockey Club, starting in Year 6 at Ocklynge Junior School and now playing with the senior team.

Skate Hockey is a mixed team sport with girls and boys of all ages welcome to try out with the first four sessions free at Cavendish Sports Centre.
