JULIETTE Sukoco enjoyed a triumphant end to the Rye Summer Classic Series.

The Hailsham Harrier was the leading lady in the final event and the overall series victor, for which she won a pair of new running shoes from the sponsor.

Sukoco clocked an excellent time of 20m33s for the 5K race at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve on Friday September 14 ,which also gave her 27th overall.

First home for the club was Paul Standen-Payne, who finished 15th with 19m17s, while the evergreen Bill Fraser continued his fine form throughout the summer, especially in his age category, with 24th place in 20m19s.

Meanwhile, the next round of the Sussex Road Race Grand Prix series was the Hove Prom 10K, organised by the Brighton Arena 80 club and held on a fast, flat and traffic-free course.

More than 240 competitors took part and first home for Harriers was Sue Fry in 51st overall and third lady in 39m41s. The race also saw a return to competition by Olivia Webb, who came back well to finish 93rd with 43m54s, and John Taylor in 180th with 52m19s, which will have gained him further points for his age category.

Other Harriers are finalising their training for the Barnes Green Half Marathon and Beachy Head Marathon in October.

The club welcomes new runners of all abilities to come and train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm, meeting at Summerheath Hall, Hailsham, Further details are available at
