The ladies of Willingdon Golf Club competed in their first medal of the 2014 season.
Winner of the Silver Division was Jean Uden with a nett 73. She edged out runner-up Sara Whittaker on countback and Maxine Green came third with a nett 74.
The Bronze Division winner was Olga Evans, whose nett 75 was enough to triumph on countback from Helen Rayner, with Gill Maynard in third place.
The eight ladies with the best scores overall will go on to compete in a knockout format over the summer months for the Thornley Cup.
Those ladies are Jean Uden, Sara Whittaker, Maxine Green, Jane Jones, Olga Evans, Helen Rayner, Sylvia Huggair and Cynthia Passingham.
Willingdon also held the Brassey Bowl on a lovely Sunday morning with the course in top condition. The format used in this one was a par/bogey competition.
The overall winner, with an excellent score of six, was Calvin Jarvis. The runner-up was Gareth Wall with four and Gary Douglas finished third with three.
Willingdon Golf Club’s senior section was in action last week, playing in the Jim Chetwood Trophy.
The winner of the competition was Colin Jeff, who finished with 38 points. Jeff received the trophy from Clare Wooten, Jim’s daughter.
