Moon shines for Rovers at presentation evening

Eastbourne Rovers Cycling Club held their annual dinner and prize presentation on Saturday at the Afton Hotel.

After one of the most competitive seasons in recent years, awards were presented to 14 Eastbourne riders.

Senior Best All Rounder for 2012 went to Peter Moon who achieved some stunning results at long distance including National 24-Hour Veteran Champion, duly acknowledged by being the first recipient of the new Graham Cox Meritorious Shield.

In addition Moon took home a good share of the silverware as 50-Mile Champion, 100-Mile Veteran Champion, Long Distance Champion and also the Bill Collins Trophy for participation in East Sussex CA events both as a rider and promoter.

Rob Rickson won the Harold Manser Trophy for best improvement at 25-miles but was unable to attend the awards dinner.

Rickson remains in hospital after sustaining serious injuries when he was hit by a van during the 2012 season.

Other award winners unable to attend included Geoff Smith the Veteran Best All Rounder and Vic Butler the Veteran Road Race Champion.
