Mayhew returns and inspires Laughton to a Whitewash win

Lewis Mayhew returned to action this year in division one of the Eastbourne and District table tennis league.

Mayhew, with Bob Lowe and Tony Rowell completed a whitewash for Laughton over Eastbourne Borough B. However, all three of them did drop a game to John Ellis while Brian Busbridge stole two games from Tony 11/8, 3/11, 11/8, 4/11, 3/11.

Although Willingdon lost the first set when Martin Richards was beaten by Jim Skinner, they went 3/1 ahead before winning two close sets in their 7-3 Victory against Bishopstone A.

Martin beat Robin Suggate 12/14, 7/11, 13/11, 11/7, 11/3 and Sheila King beat Brian Thompson 7/11, 11/8, 11/2, 8/11, 11/9. It was 6/1 after Teresa Bennett completed her maximum.

Rob Warner and Rose Rainton secured maximums and the doubles as Eastbourne Borough A saw off Hailsham A 8-2. Leanne Bentley beat Darren Chawner 9/11 ,4/11, 11/6, 9/11 but lost a very close set to James Eaglestone 12/10, 17/15, 9/11 ,11/8.
