The Cougars didn’t give up and showed some character as they picked up with the hosts’ 75-75, but they commited too many turnovers which let Lions to get back and give everything that they have got to come out on top defeading the Brighton team 87-75.

The head coach Tomas Sidabra said: ‘’This is the first year that the team exists, none of the boys have ever played for a team before, so this win means a lot to us.

‘’ The boys have enough basketball skills, but we want them to play and understand the team game and unite them, this is our task for the season.

“The energy in Eastbourne Sports Park that the parents created helped the boys to play as different as night and day.

“It was unbelievable.’’
