British No.7, Laura Robson, will headline Family Day at the Aegon International on Saturday, June 18, after accepting a wildcard into qualifying at Eastbourne.
Entry to the Aegon International is free for all on Family Day, with Robson and fellow British players Katy Dunne, Freya Christie and Jodie Burrage in action in the 32-woman qualifying draw, with play scheduled to start at 11am.
The British contingent will be vying with the likes of qualifying top seed and world No.43, Monica Puig, 2013 Wimbledon semifinalist Kirsten Flipkens, 1999 Wimbledon semifinalist Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, and Aegon Eastbourne Trophy champion, and runner-up at the Aegon Open Nottingham, Alison Riske, for eight main draw berths at the Aegon International.
Tickets for Family Day, which are free, are available at the box office or from gates 2, 5 and 7 on Saturday with fans invited to attend the main draw ceremony in the picnic area adjacent to Centre Court at 12-noon (weather permitting).
The main draw at the Aegon International boasts 18 of the world’s top 30 players including Eastbourne’s Johanna Konta, and seven former champions: Belinda Bencic (2015), Madison Keys (2014), Elena Vesnina (2013), Ekaterina Makarova (2010), Wozniacki (2009), Agnieszka Radwanska (2008) and Kuznetsova (2004), and five of world’s top ten: No.3 Radwanska, No.7 Roberta Vinci, No.8 Bencic, No.10 Timea Bacsinszky, and No.11 Petra Kvitova.
The Aegon International Eastbourne will take place from 18-25 June 2016 and is an integral part of the British grass court season, which features 11 international grass-court tournaments in eight venues across the country.
