Jenny puts the miles in for Macmillan charity

Hampden Park Tennis Club coach Jenny Hughes is set to run the Brighton Marathon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jenny has raised over £1,800 so far and hopes to add to that amount when she runs the marathon on April 15th.

The charity is close to Jenny’s heart as she suffered from oesophageal cancer back in 2007 and has lost both her brother and mum to the disease.

She said, “The marathon will be a huge challenge for me as I am not a runner.

“I started training in September and have now managed ten miles, which is the furthest I have ever run in my life!

“I’ll be running in memory of many friends and families who have suffered from cancer as well.”

Last month, Jenny represented Great Britain in the Seniors World Team Tennis Championships in San Diego, where her team finished fourth out of 17 countries, just missing out on a bronze medal after losing to the Netherlands 2-1 in the play-off match.
