Willingdon Golf Club hosted their Men’s Invitation event last Saturday, with a full field taking part on what turned out to be a beautiful summers day.
The format was 18 holes fourball better ball stableford.
It turned out to be a successful day for the host club, with a number of Willingdon members registering good finishes.
The overall winners of the event, with 44 points, were Neil Wathen, from Willingdon, and Cliff Putland, from Royal Eastbourne.
They won the competition with 23 points on the back 9 from Ian Frampton of Willingdon and Trevor Saunders of Eastbourne Downs, who had scored a respectable 22 points on the back 9.
In third spot, also with 44 points, were Mick Walker of Willingdon and Mark Bishop of Royal Eastbourne, who had 21 points on the back 9.
Peter Snashall of Willingdon and Colin Allsopp of Highwoods Golf Club won the front 9 prize after scoring an impressive 26 points and the back 9 prize was won by Alan Moore and Jay Penfold, who had 23 points.
Willingdon trio Phil Carter, Colin Jeff and Brian Ashman all picked up Nearest the Pin prizes on the 5th, 7th and 10th respectively.
Joe Angella, of Eastbourne Downs Golf Club, was the only visiting club member to win Nearest the Pin, which he did so on the 17th.
