Holmes’ break helps Glastonbury to whitewash

Martin Holmes pocketed a 55-break as title-chasers Glastonbury B recorded a whitewash over Angling A in division one of the Eastbourne and District Snooker League.

Holmes rattled in a 55-break in his 95-8 win over the Angling A skipper Richard Anderson. However, Matt Bray recorded the week’s top break with a 68 in his 94-12 defeat of Peter Lavingtonwith.

Hailsham MI C travelled to the Glastonbury Snooker Club to play the A team and their journey was rewarded with a 4-1 victory.

The Glastonbury A captain Matt Smith prevented the clean sweep with a black ball 53-44 defeat of Lee Matthews.

Polegate Legion A were at the Glastonbury Club to play the C Team. Shaun Murphy, Paul Pickett and Gary Jones won the three frames for the Legion outfit.Bruce Meeks and Matt Lee replied for Glastonbury C.

The derby match between Nuthouse A & B went the way of the B Team 3-2. Gary Callingham, Pete Roberts and the last frame match win by Dave Lee 57-33 over the A team captain Martin Halpin.

Dolphin A could only field four players in their match against bottom team Fishermens Club E. Dave Proud defeated Phil White 53-17 and Paul Worssam with the walkover recording the Fish E points. Seaford Con Club entertained four man HMI Rutherfords. Andy Coe, Sean Payne, Nick Cox and the last frame walkover for Mick Walsh, Dave Smith the Rutherfords captain prevented the whitewash in a last gasp black ball 38-37 win against Gary Cooper.

Eastbourne Workingmens Club A are struggling to avoid relegation into division two next season. They fell to a 5-0 away loss at the Fishermens Club playing the Meads A Team.

Kevin Walbrin for Meads A recorded a 41 break in his 70-22 win over the Workers captain Peter Abbotts.

Mid table HMI A recorded a close encounter win against Glastonbury F.

Three black balls decided the match outcome, HMI A winning the match 4-1. Barry Harding securedthe solitary Glastonbury F point in his last frame 47-43 win over Ekrem Vatansever.
