Henry leads from the front in impressive batting performance

POLEGATE and Stone Cross under-10s dropped just one wicket as they cruised to league victory over Little Common last week in their cricket clash.

Henry Durtnall set the tone throughout the contest, recording a boundary off his first delivery with the bat and snatching a wicket from his first delivery with the ball.

He finished with a top score of 19 not out as Polegate notched an impressive 308-1.

Ryan Hover, Freddie Bobbin, Alex Haffenden and William Lucas all tallied neat scores of 11, 10, 7 and 16 respectively, all not out.

Chasing 308, Little Common were up against it, especially after Durtnall swiftly took the opening wicket.

More wickets followed in quick succession, with Bazeer Sepahi returning figures of one wicket for three runs from his two overs.

Jack Corbett picked up 2-10 while Ben Berry stepped up the plate with two wickets for five runs.

As expected, Little Common could not touch Polegate’s total, finishing with 232 runs on the board.
