Hard work was the key to rugby festival success

EASTBOURNE Rugby Club Under-9’s celebrated their victory at the Pulborough Festival where they emerged triumphant in the Shield final.

After losing to only Hove in the group stages, they saw off Bognor Regis in the semi-final before beating Crawley five tries to one in the final.

Eastbourne player of the tournament went to Oliver Mead, while Joshua Veitch took the top try-scorer award. Eastbourne Head-Coach Gary Mead said of the boys, “All of the squad worked really hard for each other, and that’s why we won.”
