EASTBOURNE boxer Lee Jenkins insists success makes all the hard work worthwhile after winning a University of Brighton grudge match to claim gold at the BUCS Nationals in Sheffield.
Jenkins beat fellow University of Brighton student Hayden Bulloch by unanimous decision in the men’s open 69-75kg final to win his third BUCS Nationals title.
The duo had fought just two weeks previously with Jenkins winning that bout by split decision, but the 26-year-old claims Bulloch posed an even tougher test second time round.
“I’m chuffed to bits to win – it’s my third BUCS gold medal, but this is my first in the open class, so that’s terrific as well,” said Jenkins, who also fights out of Eastbourne Boxing Club.
“It just proves I’m doing the right thing every year. Boxing is a massive part of my life, and I put a lot of work into it.”
