HAILSHAM Tennis Club celebrated the 10th year of its association with Hailsham’s twin town, Gournay-en-Bray.
The French tennis club sent a contingent of players across the Channel for a joint day of tennis at the Hailsham Club in Western Road Recreation Ground.
They arrived on Friday evening and were hosted for dinner at Pevensey Bay before being billeted with club members.
Saturday dawned with a glorious blue sky, under which the two clubs enjoyed a splendid day’s tennis with all four courts in constant use.
Everything stopped for an open air lunch, after which the tennis restarted in earnest. In the evening there was a fish and chip supper in Eastbourne, followed by a music at a pub in Willingdon.
Sunday dawned wet and windy, and all agreed that they had been lucky to get such a glorious autumn day for the tennis on Saturday. After another splendid meal provided by the Hailsham club members, the French returned safely home.
