Joe Guppy of Eastbourne Rowing Club represented the senior England side at the Home International Regatta held at Cardiff Bay.
Guppy, a former British junior international, was selected for the Quad and Double Sculls as he made his first foray into senior events.
In the first event Joe teamed up with his doubles partner from the Junior World Championships from 2011.
Taking the boat off at 42 strokes a minute they lead the field to the half way mark. The more experienced teams from Ireland and Wales made a concerted effort to recover lost ground and slowly edged past in the last 400 meters with Wales going on to win by two lengths.
A similar story unfolded in quadruple sculls. Taking the Quad off at 46 strokes a minute England pushed hard from blocks.
The boats were neck and neck with only 300 meters to go, Ireland made the move followed by Wales with England hanging on to the their stern creating blanket finish with England gaining third.
