Glastonbury take ten point lead with victory over closest rivals

Glastonbury B, last season’s Division One champions in the Eastbourne Snooker League, took a giant stride towards retaining their title with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over their nearest challengers Hailsham Memorial Institute C.

Paul Grimes, Matt Bray (49 break) Martin Holmes and

Martin Wright secured the winning frames.

Jack Lander preventing the whitewash with a last frame win over Spencer Dain.

This win by the champions gives them a 10-point margin at the top of the league table.

The derby match between Glastonbury F and A Teams went the way of the A Team, on the final frame with Tokki Yamaguchi outpointing the F Team captain Andy Simpson on the black 55-44 for the A Team victory.

Dolphin A managed a close 3-2 win against Seaford Con Club. Paul Binks recorded a 40 break during his 74-31 win over Andy Coe as Peter Buckland took the match-winning frame for Dolphin 67-32 against Gary Cooper. Phil White won the other point for Dolphin 56-37 over Mick Walsh.

Polegate Legion A in fourth place consolidated their position with a 5-0 emphatic win over Eastbourne Workingmen’s Club A Team.

Mark Saunders, Shaun Murphy, Gary Jones, John Brooker & Paul Pickett grabbed the winning frames.

Nuthouse A in mid table entertained Glastonbury C as the v isitors recorded a 3-2 win,

Bruce Meeks, Ryan Knapman and the vital match- winning frame from Luke Herring Ian Townsend and Matt Walter secured the Nuthouse A points.

Fishermens E the bottom team in division one, pulled off the shock win of the week by defeating high-riding HMI Rutherfords 4-1.

Dave Proud defeated Dave Crouch 67-24, John Satterwaite outpointed Damien Hilder 53-28, Craig Knapman overcame Dave Relf 42-34 and Jimmie Simpson stopped Dave Smith 57-37.

Paul White prevented the

whitewash with a 65-216 win over Phil Worssam.
