Rugby Club director Mal Chumbley is targeting promotion as Eastbourne get their new season underway this weekend.
The Blue and Golds will travel to the Stanley Turner ground, the home of Lewes seconds, as they begin life in Sussex Spitfire One following their relegation from London South East Three.
It will be the first competitve match for Chumbley who was appointed as the new director of rugby at the end of last season.
The level three coach has previously been with Horsham Rugby Club and currently works for the RFU in Sussex.
He said, “The target is to return to the London leagues because we do have a team here that are punching below their weight.
“They have the potential to reach higher levels and we aim to get them back up there where they belong.”
