A small squad from Hailsham Swimming Club took a break from their festive celebrations, to take part in the Canterbury Christmas Open Meet.
Collectively they came away with 11 medals and 10 personal best times.
This competition provided an additional opportunity for swimmers to achieve county level qualification times, and excellent performances from 10-year-olds Frankie Lee and Maezie Lane enabled them to gain a total of seven.
Brilliant Butterfly swims won Frankie gold medals across both 50m and 200m distances. In the 200m event he completely excelled himself to swim a 24 second personal best time.
Frankie’s good form continued throughout the day as he took silver in the 50m Freestyle and Bronze in the 200m Individual Medley, in an amazing time of 3.19.92.
Determined swims from Maezie Lane led her to achieve three personal best times, all of which are within county qualification. In the 200m Individual Medley event Maezie improved her race time by ten seconds to sucessfully gain a silver medal.
She also attained silver in the 200m Breaststroke, in a time of 3.45.07 and 4th place in the 50m Breaststroke.
Macy Ring, 11, and Amelia Evershed, 12, found their form in the 200m Backstroke event, both finishing in bronze medal position. Molly Paulin ,15, also contributed to Hailsham’s medal tally, with a great swim in the 200m Freestyle, to also pick up a bronze.
Craig Steenhoff, 31, won both the races he entered. Craig gained gold in 200m Breaststroke and Freestyle events.
