Eastbourne Rugby Club will have to overcome an injury crisis and the challenge of United Services Portsmouth if they’re to progress to the next round of the RFU Junior Vase.
The Blue and Golds were already struggling with a host of injuries but last weekend’s defeat to Burgess Hill proved costly as they picked up a handful more.
Coach Mal Chumbley said, “Nick King’s shoulder popped a few weeks ago but we were able to put it back in and he played on, to his credit.
“However, against Burgess Hill, it came out completely and he spent Saturdaynight in hospital under sedation. He could be out for the rest of the season.
“Luke Turner’s broken his thumb and Adam Tennant has a slight injury but as this weekend is a cup match, I may rest him because the league is our main priority.
“We face Hampsire One side United Services Portsmouth, who are in a similar position to us, although the form guys would suggest we win.
“I know the team very well having played and coached there in my early years. I’m looking forward to meeting some old friends again.”
