Eagles get feathers clipped on the road

The Eagles hopes of further points on their travels met with disappointment at Poole’s Wimborne Road Stadium on Wednesday night.

The sides traded 5-1’s in heats one and two and although it would be the Pirates who eased away there was still only four-points in it at the half way stage. A brace of home maximum’s in heats 10 and 12 proved vital for Poole.

The Eagles had an unamiliar look. Dakota North and Kevin Doolan were called up for guest duties at reserve to replace Lukas Dryml (suffering with bronchitis) and the injured Denis Gizatullin. Both performed impressively and contributed a paid 16-points but they received little support.

Darcy Ward had a nightmare meeting, two disqualifications in his four-point haul, but David Stachyra proved an unlikely hero with a four ride maximum. Fellow Pole Maciej Janowski topped the scorechart.

Pirates: Maciej Janowski 14(5), Dawid Stachyra 12(4), Chris Holder 11+1(5), Rohan Tungate 7+2(5), Darcy Ward 4+2(4), Dennis Andersson 4(4), Kyle Howarth 1(3) - 53

Eagles: Bjarne Pedersen 10+1(5), Kevin Doolan (Guest for Denis Gizatullin) 8(4), Cameron Woodward 7+1(5), Dakota North (Guest for Lukas Dryml) 5+3(4), Adam Shields 4+2(4), Simon Gustafsson 4(4), Timo Lahti 1+1(4) – 39
