Finally the long winter wait is over as the Eastbourne Eagles are set to roar back into action against the Poole Pirates in the Grand Opening Challenge match at Arlington stadium on Sunday (March 20, 5pm).
The fixture will offer a swift chance for new Eagles number one rider Bjarne Perdersen to face his old club.
Pedersen found himself frozen out of the Dorset side and will surely be keen to show his former employers what they are missing.
The new season also sees the return of home favourite Lewis Bridger, who helped Coventry win the Elite League last season while on loan. Joonas Kylmakorpi, Simon Gustafsson, Cameron Woodward, Lukas Dryml and Dawid Lampart have all returned to complete the line-up for the Eagles’ 2011 campaign.
Eagles promoter Mike Bellerby said, “Last year’s riders gelled and that’s why we have brought as many back this year as we could. The results in the second half of the season and in the cup were inspired by the great relationship the boys had with one another and the club. It was great to get the team together for practice day, and they enjoyed mucking around together in their new suits with The Twig.”
