Hailsham Ladies secured promotion and the Sussex Ladies League One title with an excellent 3-0 triumph against Chichester at the weekend.

Hailsham started this critical top-of-the-table match with great determination, with the midfield keeping good possession from the outset.

A cross from the right by Emma Allen was met by Toni Bray, who calmly placed the ball under the Chichester ‘keeper to open the scoring for Hailsham.

They kept the pressure on and quickly won a penalty corner. A good injection from Sarah Haird was met at the top of the circle by Katie James, who neatly passed two defenders and slipped the ball past the goalie to make it 2-0.

Hailsham were fired-up and on the attack, winning several more penalty corners, with Bray scoring her second of the match, bringing it to 3-0 in the first 20 minutes.

Chichester began to settle into their game and started to pressurise the Hailsham defence, seeing left back Sarah Lannin clear off the line to keep a clean sheet at half time.

The second half saw Hailsham defend well but they were unable to add to their goal tally. Chichester applied more pressure, playing the ball around well, but Hailsham’s man-to-man marking, particularly from player of the match, Lyndsey Horne, didn’t allow any space for Chichester to attack.

A fabulous result which makes the team Champions of Sussex Ladies League One, winning promotion to the Sussex Premier Division.

Hailsham Millers secured a superb 4-3 victory against Lewes Flippers in Sussex Development League.

In a frantic game played at a high level from both teams, Hailsham goals were scored by Tom Mcdonald, Ben Twine, Toby Baker and a sublime reverse lob from Will Kirkham.

Keeper Jonah Dickie pulled off some superb saves to continually deny the Lewes attack and the young Hailsham team held firm to the final whistle to secure a deserved league win.
