For the second year running, Ben Putland and Eleanor Chapman won their respective David Lloyd Club Championships singles finals.
In the men’s and ladies finals Putland beat Luciano Cestari 6-7, 6-0, 6-3 whilst Chapman beat Anja Guldemond 6-2, 6-1.
As in last year’s event, the men’s singles final was a high standard match full of exciting rallies.
Cestari won key points to take the first set, but as he tired, Putland dominated the points to win the second set.
Cestari came back well in the decider, but Putland was able to close out the match.
In the ladies singles, Chapman, only 13, and Guldemond, a year older, played mainly a baseline match of hard hitting rallies.
Chapman’s greater consistency and calmer, more resilient temperament helped her gain a comfortable victory.
