POLEGATE and Stone Cross under-10s finished their season with a flourish, strolling to a comfortable victory over Bexhill in their final league game of the season.
Batting first, Bexhill found runs hard to come by in the damp conditions, with the first two overs of the innings being maidens.
Opening bowler Sam Williams showed how much he had improved over the summer with his two overs only going for three runs, while Ben Witham only conceded four runs in his two overs.
Pick of the attack though was debutant Joe Sarro, who showed his class by bowling line and length at high speed.
However, despite struggling against a strong bowling and fielding performance, ably captained by under-nine Sussex East Area representative Charlie Travers, Bexhill did not lose any wickets and finished with a competitive total of 244 in their 16s overs.
Polegate’s reply was boosted by U8 opener Freddie Bobbin, hitting a mighty six as well as a four in his cameo.
Antony Bundy and Baseer Sepahi worked well together, while Alex Haffenden scored a compact six not out, easing Polegate and Stone Cross home to victory with a final total of 287.
