Eastbourne Rugby Club chairman Fraser Brooks is confident the second XV will come out on top in their winner-takes-all match with Burgess Hill on Saturday.
The match is a straight shootout, with the winners earning promotion to the Sussex Intermediary League.
It has been a superb season for the Nomads but it all comes down to this final 80 minutes and, having witnessed their heroics this season, Brooks is convinced they’ll be the ones celebrating come Saturday evening.
“It’s the big one,” he said.
“I have every confidence. I’ve seen the guys all season and when we’re on it, we’re really on it.
“They’re all great pals and they’ll be looking at each other as they cross that white line and giving absolutely everything for each other.”
Gaining promotion from the Sussex “Asahi” League Two, would see the second XV move within one division of the first XV.
While the club were disappointed to see the first team miss out on the play-off spot in Sussex Spitfire Division One, Brooks admits that having the teams so close together provides a solid foundation for next season.
Playing at a higher level means the transition between second and first team rugby becomes far easier.
“This is now just one big squad,” Brooks added.
“It was disappointing to miss out on the play-offs but you have to stand back and look at the bigger picture.”
The Nomads will kick off at 2pm at the Fortress.
