Eastbourne’s badminton star Heather Olver helped England’s mixed badminton Squad to Commonwealth Games silver on Monday.

England were forced to settle for second place as Malaysia took gold with a 3-1 victory in the best of five final held at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Olver was not selected for the knockout stages where England beat Sri Lanka 3-1 in the quarters and India 3-0 in the semi-final.

She did however remain unbeaten in the group stages as she partnered Kate Robertshaw to win the women’s doubles 21-7, 21-10 against Northern Ireland.

Olver then teamed with Chris Langridge in the mixed as England easily beat Mauritius.

Jersey were the next to fall in the group stage and Olver and Langride triumphed against Mark Constable and Mariana Agathangelou 21-7 21-13.

Olver aims for more success in Glasgow as she competes alongside Robertshaw in the ladies doubles and Langridge in the mixed.
