Eastbourne Rugby Club coach Mal Chumbley insists his players are in it for the long run, no matter what happens in their play-off clash on Saturday.
The Blue and Golds will welcome Kent League runners-up Beccehamians to Park Avenue this weekend (3pm) to determine which side will compete in the London Leagues next year.
Just one season after being relegated from the London and South East Division Three, promotion would be a huge achievement for the club and Chumbley believes that regardless of the outcome, his men will continue to stick together.
He said, “It’s very exciting times for the club and there is a clear optimism here. Even if we don’t go up, the constant message is that we’ve still done really well to get to this stage.
“It’s easy to get carried away when you’re doing well in the league but we know we need to keep our foot on the pedal and not accept where we are.
“We’ve shown we can compete against higher-level clubs and we want to get the club back where they belong. Whether we do it this year or next, everyone at the club is in it for the long run. “
