Eastbourne Rugby Club will look to improve their recent form as they welcome near rivals Rye to the Park Avenue tomorrow (Saturday 2.15pm).

The Blue and Golds have suffered back to defeats in their last two fixtures. They went down 14-3 on a bog of a pitch in the Sussex Cup at Hastings and Bexhill before Christmas.

Following their Christmas and New Year break Mal Chumbley’s side were hoping to start 2014 with renewed vigour but a depleted side suffered a painful 31-18 Sussex Spitfire One League defeat at Seaford.

Eastbourne stay in fourth place on 40 points from their 13 matches and despite their recent dip in form they remain in striking distance of third placed Brighton II who are on 43 points.

Pulborough, who thrashed Hove seconds 74-0 last week, are way out in front on 63 points with Crawley nine points behind in second place with 54 points.

The pick of the fixtures in the Sussex Spitfire tomorrow will see Crawley welcome Pulborough in a top of the table clash. Meanwhile the seconds have no fixture this weekend. They are next in action on Saturday, January 25 at Crowborough III.
