Joelle Bennett made it a hat-trick for the Bennett family as she took the East Sussex Schools Table Tennis Championship title.

Her brothers Jack and Josh had already triumphed in their respective age groups before Joelle, who attends Willingdon Primary School, claimed the under-11 girls title. She beat Joanne Perkins from West St leonards primary school in the final.

Eastbourne players fared well in the tournament held at the St Leonard’s Academy.

In the Under 11 Boys there were some good performances from Eastbourne players, particularly from Ocklynge School but it was players from Lewes who dominated the finals.

In the under-13 girls Kyah Ovenden from Willingdon Community school did well to take the runner-up spot, but county ranked Amelia Long from St leonards Academy proved too strong.

The Under 16 girls saw Yuki Watt of Bedes School take the title for a second year in a row, beating Emma Sheen of BACA 3-0.

Yuki won the national title last year and will be hoping to repeat that this year.
