Marion Bartoli believes she played her best tennis on centre court today to set up a quarter-final clash with Lucie Safarova, this morning’s conqueror of Heather Watson.
The Frenchwoman who won last year’s AEGON International against Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, comfortably won in straight sets 6-2 6-2 to knock out Canada’s Aleksandra Wozniak.
She said, “That was probably one of the best matches I’ve played on grass. I had some great ones last year but I think it’s at the same level.
“I made it easy for myself because I played extremely well. I was hitting the ball very hard.”
Bartoli heads into Wimbledon next week with confidence as the ninth seed. She said, “If I’m improving and working out, I will have a chance.”
