Baghdatis cruises into second round at Eastbourne

Marcos Baghdatis sailed through to the second round of the AEGON International on the sunshine coast after only dropping two games against eighth seed Pablo Andujar.

The charismatic Cypriot won 6-1 6-1 in a convincing performance which stands him in good stead to compete for his fifth career title.

The right-hander and world No. 42 was strong in his serve in a show of domination on centre court at Devonshire Park.

His second-round opponent will be either Steve Darcis from Belgium or a qualifier yet to be decided.

The 2006 Australian Open runner up will hope to continue this fine form throughout the tournament and into Wimbledon.
