Alick powers into round three of the national singles

Playing away at Wealden in the second round of the mens National Over 50s Singles, Alick Janaway of Langney was drawn against Malcolm Goman.

Alick went into an immediate lead, scoring three on the first end and never allowed his opponent to catch up, winning 21-7 to progress into the next round.

Following a fine away win in the Sussex County League against Denton Island, Langney men met Horsham at home in another League match.

Starting strongly, Langney stormed into an early lead and carried on to win with a final score of 133-96.

Langney Ladies v Falaise: Playing a Sussex County League match with the advantage of their home rinks, Langley Ladies met Falaise. The visitors were slow to start, Langney leading 43-15 after the fifth end and 89-42 after the 10th end.

Falaise fought back in the last eight ends but Langney held on to gain nine league points and win 122-77 which included a hot-shot on the eigth end on rink six by Audrey Wheeldon, Doreen Ryall, Brenda Thomas and Sheila Holmans.

Langney Ladies v Grattons In a friendly match Langney Ladies welcomed Grattons I.B.C from Crawley. Both teams started well and at the half-way point Grattons were in the lead 55-42. Langney fought back to overtake their opponents on the sixteenth end to snatch victory by 115 to103.

Langney Indoor Bowls Club is holding a Christmas Fayre on Friday, December 9 from 11a.m to 3.30 p.m .
