Luke Tomsett has been confirmed as the captain of Eastbourne Cricket Club for next season.
Tomsett took over as skipper from his brother Mark towards the end of last season.
Despite some encouraging displays, Eastbourne fell just short in their battle to beat the drop from the Sussex Premier and will compete in the second tier next season.
Tomsett said, “I’m over the moon and looking forward to a busy winter preparing for the season.
“The target for the season is obviously promotion. I want to create a winning environment where everyone enjoys playing cricket. I am looking to keep the majority of the lads after chatting to them post season.
“We will be looking to strengthen the club as a whole, from the thirds through to the first team.
“There are boys who performed well in the seconds last season who deserve their chance in the first team.”
Last season’s leading run scorer Callum Jackson isn’t expected to remain at the Saffrons. Jackson was released by Sussex but hopes to pursue a professional career at another county.
Highly-rated teenager and Bermuda international Delray Ralwings, who was recently selected for the Sussex Academy, could however remain with Eastbourne next season.
Former skipper Mark Tomsett is expected to play a limited role due to work and family commitments.
