Lack of fitness riles McCreadie

Hailsham Town manager Kenny McCreadie believes a lack of fitness is harming his side's performances in their crucial run in to avoid relegation from Sussex County Division one.

The Stringers went down 2-0 to Arundel at the Beaconsfield on Tuesday night in a game which saw Hailsham missing seven first team players through injury.

McCreadie said, "The lads were unfit when I took over and when you are not at peak fitness then you cannot be as good as you should be.

"You can see coming into the important games we are not as fit as we could be, we should be training twice a week but that is difficult to do while we are playing so many league games."

Town are on a run of five defeats in a row, a position McCreadie says is new to him having never been in such a situation before.

"I came in and won four games in a row but I have never lost five games in a row, as a player, a coach or a manager, and I have never been in a relegation battle before.

"This is new to me, and to my players, especially the ones I have brought in with me. It is a battle but we will battle all the way to the end."

Town are currently fourth bottom but having played more games then the three sides below them.

Shoreham welcome Hailsham to Middle Road after defeating Mile Oak 3-1 and still harbouring ambitions of a high-placed finish.
