In-form David Twine is in confident mood after Eastbourne’s excellent win over Sussex Cricket League title hopefuls Preston Nomads.
Eastbourne reinforced their position in the top four by becoming only the second team this season to defeat reigning champions Nomads.
Twine, who was again the star man with the ball by taking 5-91, has been buoyed by the exciting 10-run win and expectations for the rest of the season have now risen.
Twine said: “Originally our target was fourth, but after the last couple of weeks we’re hoping for second or third.
“Either would be a fantastic achievement considering we’ve only just been promoted.
“It was a very good all-round performance and I was very happy with my own performance as well.”
Eastbourne - who are 32 points behind third-placed East Grinstead - have three games left, starting with a trip to third-from-bottom Cuckfield tomorrow (Saturday), and Twine is eager to keep the good run going.
“We are as high as ever and expect to beat Cuckfield,” he added.
“We’re really looking forward to playing them after last weekend’s result.
“We’re expecting to have the same team available. We’re not sure about Callum Jackson, but we were without him last week and proved we can still do well.”
