Eastbourne United chairman Les Aisbitt admits he held talks with former player and County League veteran Tobi Hutchinson following Brian Dennis’ departure.

Hutchinson, 40, was player-coach under Dennis for six months at the Oval but parted company on bad terms following a ‘difference of opinion.’

Aisbitt spoke to Hutchinson who is currently the coach at East Grinstead.

He said, “I have spoken to Hutchinson and it’s always good to chat and see what the options are. I know he is interested but Paul Daubeney and Paul Sargent are in charge.”

New boss Daubeney said, “It has been a hectic few days at the club. I feel sorry for Brian but I have spoken to him and he has wished me well. He was my manager during my playing career and he gave me the chance here. I’m sorry to see him go but that’s football.

“The table does not look good but we will do all we can to turn things around.”
