London 2012 bronze medallist Alex Danson visited Cavendish School to give mentoring sessions and presentations to students as part of Sky Sports Living for Sport programme.

Accompanied by her medal Alex Danson, 27, said, “Winning the medal was the greatest experience of my entire life. It has got me into the schools to inspire the pupils which is a real privilege.”

The Olympic star was part of the medal-winning Great Britain women’s hockey team and finished the tournament joint-top scorer. She has been part of the sport programme for over four years which aims to encourage children to participate in all different sports at school.

She added, “Everything I’ve ever learnt has been on the sports field so I want to give back.”

PE teacher Kate Clitherow said, “It takes a lot of commitment, organisation and devotion from staff, pupils and Alex to run a session like this but it is terrific work.”
