Hassell navigates his way through the grid
EASTBOURNE’S Kelvin Hassell secured two sixth place finishes at the European Late Model Series in Belgium on Sunday, despite not expecting to take part.
Hassell emerged from last position on the grid in each heat to secure three impressive finishes at Warneton Speedway. The driver also grabbed 8th place in-between finishing sixth in the first and third heats.
Hassell said, “It is always nice to be racing when you were not expecting to be.”
The local racer led the only three Englishmen in the race home. In the final heat he was faster than the group of cars ahead of him, but was unable to pass. Hassell will now compete in the UK Sprint Car Championships at the Lydden Hill Truck Festival in Kent on the 16th and 17th of June.
Despite this, there is a possibility he could be drafted into racing in the European Late Model Series once again at the same meeting.
