Hailsham captain Will Slemmings praised his team after their magnificent start to East Sussex League division three campaign continued with victory over East Dean & Friston.

Some stellar individual performances, most notably from Varun Khullar, have been largely to thank for the recent results which has seen them to the summit of East Sussex Division Three.

But the skipper was particularly pleased with how they performed as a unit in this five wicket demolition.

“Today was another great win for us and it was fantastic to see the runs shared amongst the guys in a season which has been dominated by individual efforts,” he said

“Varun was very impressive with both ball and bat again but today was a team effort with everyone playing their part.”

The skipper elected to bowl after winning the toss and this would prove to be a wise decision as they reached the 135 set by East Dean with relative ease.

Chad Chisholm (66 no) top-scored for the hosts but, as many teams have done this season, they struggled to deal with Khullar who finished with five wickets from his 16.1 overs and conceded just 42 runs.

Billy Harris also claimed two scalps with the ball, while Slemmings led by example, dismissing opener Steve Edwards for a duck.

In reply Harris and Tom Hicks made 13 each and Matt Dawber added 28,

Khullar continued in impressive form with 39 not out alongside Cameron Bullard (33).

And It was left to Khullar to cap a magnificent display, as he hit the winning runs to reach the total in 32.1 overs with five wickets to spare.
