Narrow PAVIT defeat see Royal drop into plate competition

In the PAVIT Trophy Royal Eastbourne team boss Barry Illsley’s men suffered a narrow defeat at Chartham Park.

They lost 6 1/2 –5 1/2. Wins by Tom Breach and Richard Hine, Matt Wilson and Phil Belfield left things hanging in the balance with the Royal needing to win four of the eight singles, a 6-6 tie would have given the Royal a passage through to the next round. Sadly it was not to be and wins by Nick Ward and Richard Hine and a half from Steve Clarke will see the Royal drop into the plate competition.
