It’s Brian’s Bowl

With the wind howling around the golf course, most sensible golfers would have stayed in bed.

Despite the trying conditions, Brian Valentine managed to win the Willingdon Seniors Centenary Bowl with 39 stableford points.

Willingdon seniors press officer Mr Schofield said, “You had to be playing that day to appreciate quite how good his round was.

“Most of the competitors were happy that they remained upright in the face of the 40 mile an hour gusts.”

In a very credible second place came Pete Smith with 37 points.

Norman Beaney and Royston Price were joint third with 36 points and in 4th place with 34 points, and the youngest of the finalists, was Tony Kirvin.
