Alice Millest led the field on a glorious day for the Lady Captain’s Day at the Royal Eastbourne Golf Club.
Alice won on countback, winning the Gilmour Trophy, Silver Division with 36 points.
In second place was Angela Cole, also with 36. First in Bronze One was Jenny Bruce with 36 points, while Lynda Stewart took second with 34. Jean Cripps was first on countback in Bronze Two with Diana Paterson second.
The prize for the longest drive went to Katie Ager, who sent her shot around 180 yards into the wind straight down the middle of the 12th.
Marjorie Riddiford won the Evergreen Cup on the Hartington course. The Junior Girls’ prize was won by Catriona Houston with a magnificent 38 points.
Lizzie Carol had the prize for the most improved player of the year. More than 100 ladies entered the competition and enjoyed being waited on by the men serving drinks halfway.
Following Cava and Cake before the prize presentation, the ladies gave a fine performance of Happy Birthday to captain Wendy after a splendid day.
In the junior section, Nick Ward produced two fine rounds of golf at John O` Gaunt Golf Club in Bedfordshire to secure a top five finish in the EGU South Eastern Group Championship.
Up against over 70 of the best juniors from the 11 counties that make up the south east group, Nick finished the day at two-under par, four shots behind the winner J B Yule from Kings Lynn Golf Club.
Only six players finished under par for the tournament. A two-under par morning round, followed by a level par afternoon round ensured Nick finished the day in a well-deserved fourth place.
