Goals at last as Borough win at Worthing

After four games without a goal, Eastbourne Borough finally found the back of the net as they won 2-0 at Worthing in tonight's Sussex Senior Cup tie.

Andy Atkin was the man who brought the smiles back to the Borough fans. In the 18th minute, home defender Ben Andrews failed to cut out Simon Wormull's low cross from the right and Atkin's half volley went in off keeper Alan Mansfield's hand.

It might have been different, however, if Jamie Brotherton had taken a good chance at the other end three minutes earlier. But he shot straight at keeper Lee Hook when well placed.

Boro rarely looked like adding to the tally until a double substitution brought them to life in the 68th minute.

Matt Crabb and Jay Lovett replaced Pat Harding and Simon Wormull and three minutes later came the second goal as Lovett connected with Neil Jenkins' cross from the left to score at the far post.

Jenkins forced a finger-tip save from the keeper soon after, but Borough were comfortably through in front of a small crowd of just 182.
