AS Eastbourne Under 7’s and under 8’s (pictured right) both picked up winners awards at the inaugural Winter 3G Tournament finals, hosted by Mid Sussex Youth & Minor League last Sunday at Hassocks Sports Centre.
The pro active youth league introduced the small sided football tournament across all their age groups.
The key objective is to keep all their players active during the often bleak peak winter periods for youth football.
Standard league and cup games on council pitches are regularly called off due to waterlogged or frozen conditions and this gives the kids the opportunity to keep doing what they love to do on the weekends.
Director of Coaching for the club, Anthony Storey proudly said after the awards presentation, “This was a fantastic tournament to be involved in as it’s a great opportunity to play against many different teams in one day on the modern 3G turf.
“I’m really proud of the boys development and achievements while showing fantastic sportsmanship at such a young age.
“Having fantastic parental support was also important so a big thank you to all of them for braving the winter elements while watching their children play some really entertaining football.”
The club’s Under 9’s and 10’s will also be participating in Winter 3G finals this Sunday, which will once again be held at the same Mid Sussex venue in Hassocks.
